About Us
Let’s get to know each other better
Story
The name ‘Prà di Levada’ derives from the fact that this was the highest part of the area (then marshy) and was crossed by the ‘Annia’ road – a Roman consular road of which there is still evidence (Roman Bridge).
The building complex was donated in 1490 by Pope Innocent VIII to the Monastery of S. Maria degli Angeli.
The Villa and Barchessa were built at the end of the 16th century, and the delightful little church attached to the Villa, where religious ceremonies and rites are often celebrated, dates back to 1668, the time of Mother Abbess Marcello Loredan, as evidenced by the dates on the stones embedded in the façade.

Over the centuries, La Barchessa underwent various transformations. It was owned by the Franchetti Barons, who further modified its structure, giving it its current appearance.
In the early 1900s, entrepreneur Cav. Giuseppe Franchin purchased the estate from Baron Jacopo Franchetti, and it still belongs to the Franchin family today.
The Barchessa has undergone careful structural restoration by Margherita Franchin, the current owner, under the supervision of the Superintendency of Environmental Heritage of the Venetian Villas, which has highlighted its merits and the purity of its lines (Palladian façade).
